“The housing market in Latah County slowed following the brisk spring market. However, this is not a sign of panic, as historically, the Latah County market has seen a mid-summer slow. That said, we are seeing increasing buyer traffic picking up toward the end of July which is also indicative of this historical trend. There are more homes on the market than there have been at this time providing a great window for buyers. We believe the potential cause for the slowing trend during this time of the year is that many people are vacationing more than ever. We have been seeing higher interest rates, and as Latah County’s economy tends to be driven by the schedules of the local colleges, universities, and K-12 schools, we expect this uptick in market activity to continue through the fall. We will likely then see a crescendo as the fall/winter weather brings a close to the season.”
